Last week we signed up for Trekurious Plated (2 July) which was an Italian menu at Colombo Courtyard’s Scarlet Room.
We chose to have the non-vegetarian menu which was priced at Rs. 1,400nett per person for a three course meal which included an appetizer, mains and dessert.
We started with Pan Seared Medium Lagoon Prawns. A delectable trio of prawns served with an assortment of bell peppers, courgettes and aubergine Provencal style. The appetizer was delightful! The only suggestion we’d give them to improve this dish is to have the the prawns de-shelled.
For mains we had the Pappardelle in Creamy Salmon, Prawn and Mushroom Sauce. This was an absolute winner of a dish. Generous amounts of salmon, prawn and fleshy shiitake mushrooms cooked to perfection with al dente pappardelle. We would have loved some freshly cracked black pepper with this dish but settled for some pepper out of their salt and pepper shakers. This was a rather large portion and we weren’t able to finish it and felt a tad guilty for remaining a very small amount of food.
We waited it out a bit and let our food digest before we proceeded to end our meal with dessert. Since there was two of us we decided to try two things. We had the Baked Vanilla Cheesecake and the Tiramisu. Both were very well plated and looked promising however the desserts failed to live upto our expectations. The tiramisu was missing that hit of zabaglione, which is traditionally a egg yolk/sugar/Marsala wine mixture and the vanilla cheesecake was more like a vanilla pudding than a vanilla cheesecake.
The meal on the whole was great and the ambiance really added to the entire experience. We love the Scarlet Room and we must say that their service is very good.
We had a very good lunch experience through Trekurious at The Scarlet Room – they need to work on their desserts and this menu would then be perfect.
We’ve rated the meal as follows:
Value for Money: 4/5
Overall Rating: 4/5
